Christmas Poems

Christmas should be a time of joy
To celebrate the birthday of a wondrous boy
But many dread this special day
And wait for the hours to pass away.

Spare a thought for those who fear
Another sad and lonely year
Who watch as others plan and give
While they can barely manage to live.

The meaning of Christmas now seems to be
To spend all we can, buy the biggest tree
We forget the real reason for making this fuss
The day that Jesus was born, to give his life for us.

When he looks down from Heaven, surely he should see
People loving each other, the way it was meant to be
He would'nt want the pretty lights sparkling on the tree
Rather that his children share peace and harmony.

To give time to those who dread this day
Must be another way to pray,
The more you give the more you'll receive
Try it, if you don't believe.

Christmas Fairy

Tiny fairy upon the tree
Do you see my tears,
As you look down at me.
No children here you seem to say
For they are grown and far away.
No one here to share this time
No gentle hand to hold in mine
How could they forget to call
Or send a card, however small.
A caring word would mean so much
Sweet fairy why dont they get in touch.
Why do I bring out the tree
I ask myself constantly,
It only makes things worse I know
Like the fairy lights and candle glow.
But see, all is ready, for a Christmas tea,
Just in case, they remember me.
