My Tree

I sit by my window and look at my tree
It signifies the wonder of nature for me
It's shelter for the flowers, a home for the birds
The inspiration for me to write these words.

In spring it's all green with a promise that soon
The summer will come with blossom and bloom
In autumn the leaves all cover the ground
They drop softly down not making a sound.

When winter is here my tree is all white
With snowflakes and cobwebs, a beautiful sight
All wrapped in its blanket of snow my tree takes
A sleep until spring when surely it wakes.

Little Bird

A while ago, it seems much more, something precious was given to me,
No, not given but lent, I think, for how long I cannot see
A little bird with damaged wings and eyes so full of pain
So broken and forlorn he was, my job, to make him well again.

I held this tiny soul and felt the fear in him,
I touched his wings, his broken heart that fluttered in my hands
There will be pain to make you well but trust me please I said.
He looked at me, his wound so raw, with questions in his eyes
Then he laid his head upon my hand, he rested and he sighed.

My little bird is healing now, but it will take some time,
He trusts me, he comes to me but still there is some pain
He is so fragile in my hand, I must'nt hold too tight
I must hold him gently for I know he may take flight.
The time may come when he will go, I'll have to set him free
Perhaps he'll stay it's much too soon for him to know, or me.
His pain is less, he knows I care, for he has touched my heart
Yet if I have to see him fly, I must feel glad not sad
For it means he's whole and free, I hope because of me.

My little bird you gave so much although you were in pain
I cannot put you in a cage, I care too much to try
So little bird you have your life, live it as you will
Forget the pain, the frights and fears, let them fade away
You're free my tiny soul, you're free, to fly away or stay.

Natures Wonders

The wonder of nature is with us every day,
In things we take for granted as we go along life's way
The perfume of the blossom swaying in the breeze
Delicate petals dropping down, to mingle with the leaves.

The glistening of the cobwebs moist with tender dew
Tiny flowers peeping out, with glorious coloured hue
Sunlight behind a rainbow, what a wonderful sight
The evening star always there, as darkness gives way to light.

The beauty of a snowflake is like a tear of lace
As it falls gently to the ground, perfect in it's grace
Fluffy clouds above, drifting slowly by
What lovely colours we can see if we look up to the sky.

The patter of the raindrops, the sharpness of the hail
There is no way to stop it, to try would be to no avail
This is truly our nature from the sunshine to the thunder
Who would want to change it, for it is nature's wonder.

Over The Hill

I look over the hill
At my sheep lying dead
My eyes start to fill.

I sit longer still
My heart filled with dread
I look over the hill.

No need for my skill
No lambs will be bred
My eyes start to fill.

They decided to kill
Whatever I said
I look over the hill.

This bitter pill
Thoughts in my head
My eyes start to fill.

A Letter from George

Just a little note to say
I have moved away today
My mummy is feeling very sad
But in a while, she wont feel so bad.
For she has found me a nice new home
A place where I will never be alone
Ill be with John and Rosy too
They have told me we love you.

I know that Ill be happy here
They think I am a little dear
I wont have to stay in my cage
To sit and scream and shout with rage.

Ill be out every day
Lots of room for me to play
It is best for me I know,
My mummy loves me, so she let me go.
