Impossible Love

I saw a little fairy On a hazy morning in May
I was so surprised to see her
Sitting there that day.

I wanted to reach out to her
She was a picture of grace

But I did'nt want to frighten her
To put fear on that lovely face.

Suddenly, she looked at me
And smiling put out her hand
I gently took it into my own
It seemed as if it was planned.

She did'nt say a word to me
Yet her eyes said many things

They were full of love
And I thought of wedding rings.

What could I be thinking
As I drowned in her lovely face

I only knew no other
Could ever take her place.

She took her tiny hand from mine
I knew she had to leave

Gracefully she flew away
Leaving me to grieve.

My only love has gone
Life will never be the same

All I can do is hope and pray
That she will come again.
